Islip, NY- September 22, 2008 - Supervisor Phil Nolan is pleased to announce that the Islip Town Board has passed a resolution authorizing the Town to enter into an agreement with KVS Information Systems, Inc. for the installation of a new financial software package. In light of the recent discovery of fiscal mismanagement by prior administrations and the launch of an audit by New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, this is great news for the Town.

The Town has been using an outdated financial accounting package that runs off a mainframe and dates back to the 1970s, which made reviews of previous administrations’ poor spending practices all the more difficult. With the new software, the Town will be able to improve efficiency as the Supervisor and the Town Board move forward with plans to clean up the fiscal mess that was left to them.

“The combination of a more up-to-date financial accounting package and our continued vigilance will enable my administration to address these issues once and for all,” stated Supervisor Phil Nolan. “I am confident that the new system will go a long way towards streamlining operations and increasing accountability.”

Comptroller Joe Ludwig agreed, adding, “This brings the Town into the 21st century. Once the software is installed, the entire budget process will be vastly improved.” Upon signing a contract with KVS Information Systems, Inc., the Town hopes to have the new software package up and running by January 2009.
